Brooke Mickan
I have always had a strong interest in nature which first led me to study Wildlife Biology and the animal kingdom. Having discovered Naturopathy, I continued to further my knowledge of the Natural World, and along with it, the healing powers of nature. Undertaking education in both Wildlife Biology and Naturopathy has provided me with in-depth scientific knowledge of body systems and how they interrelate. This allows me to treat any imbalances with natural medicines, which support the body’s natural healing processes rather than overriding them.
I practice Evidence Based Medicine – the integration of clinical expertise with the best available external evidence from systematic research. Evidence Based Medicine is patient-centered and patient-driven, meaning the selected treatment is based on your individual needs, integrated with clinical expertise, and supported by research. This approach to health not only improves health outcomes, but also aids in educating and empowering you to take control of your health.
I specialize in skin conditions, particularly eczema, psoriasis and acne. Having suffered eczema since birth, I understand the frustration in dealing with acute flares and remission, the search for the ‘cure’, and the disappointment when yet another product or treatment does not live up to its claims. It is important to understand any skin complaint is not a ‘quick fix’ problem and it will take time to see lasting results. It is because it is not easy or a ‘quick fix’ that it is important to find a practitioner that not only understands what you are dealing with, but also to support and guide you through the process.
I also maintain a keen interest in digestive disorders, immune dysfunction, as well as stress and mood related disorders, which are often underlying factors in many skin complaints.
