Diana Bowman
After many years as a tertiary teacher in NSW, I sought a ‘sea change’ so moved to the Gold Coast and studied Naturopathy. This new career path led me into private practice in 1997 and I am proud to say clinic days are still counted as some of my happiest and most rewarding experiences.
My passion for naturopathic and herbal medicine took me back into education. Firstly as a lecturer with the Australian College of Natural Medicine (now known as Endeavour College of Natural Health) and secondly as a student completing a Master’s degree in Health Science (Herbal Medicine) at the University of New England in 2006. I work from home under contract for the College of Naturopathic Medicine in the UK as an educationalist and curriculum developer as well as continuing in private practice.
Over the last twenty years I have not only developed a passion for herbal medicine, but for natural pediatric medicine. As a mother and grandmother I know children’s health problems can leave even the most optimistic parents with a nagging sense of worry. Luckily natural medicines can help get to the root of the problem and find a lasting solution.
I have found parents are often amazed at the effectiveness of naturopathic and herbal medicine in treating common childhood ailments including digestive problems, recurring colds and ‘flu’s, ear and sinus infections, ADD/ADHD, eczema and asthma.
Occasionally a first visit with a sick child may be briefer, focusing on getting your child (and you!) some immediate relief, and leaving longer-term treatment plans for a later visit. However, usually in the first visit we’ll discuss your child’s entire health history and consider what genetic, environmental and nutritional factors could be contributing to their illness. A physical examination including iris analysis may be performed or laboratory tests ordered to arrive at a treatment regime which is tailored for your child.
While it’s not always easy to change your child’s ‘lifestyle’, I can help guide you through the gradual changes that will gently lead your child to a happier, healthier life.
