MHSc (Herbal Medicine)
I have been in private practice as a Naturopath and Herbalist in Brisbane since 1992. Over this time I have developed quite a passion for Herbs and their wonderful healing and regenerative qualities.
This passion has led me to teaching herbal medicine at the Australian College of Natural Medicine (now called the Endeavour College of Natural Health). In 2006 I completed further studies – Masters in Health Science (Herbal Medicine) through the University of New England.
Herbal Medicine is ideal for treating many common health problems. These include chronic disorders such as arthritis, asthma, skin disorders and digestive problems which usually respond well. One of the greatest strengths of herbal medicine is the way it can improve the functioning of the immune system, extremely important given the demands of our modern lives.
Watch David talking about his passion for Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine
People sometimes feel awkward coming along to a Naturopath if they don’t have a specific diagnosis. In fact, many of the clients I see don’t really know what is wrong with them, but are very clear that they don’t feel “quite right”! Naturopathy is ideally suited to this situation, as quite often the underlying issue may be an exhausted nervous system, a disordered digestive system, hormonal imbalance, or other underlying causes.
I sometimes use Iridology as part of the initial assessment to gain an insight into the overall functioning of the major body systems, and their inter-relationships. I take a digital iris photo and display it on the screen of my computer. This allows easier examination of the eye as it is displayed the size of the computer screen which enables me to show you areas of interest.
Although it is usually necessary to make some changes to your diet, I endeavour to make these as realistic as possible. If you are particularly run down, I may not change your diet at the initial consultation, but wait until you feel more energised from the initial treatment.
