Larissa Gilroy

I’ve always had an interest in health and looked for ways to improve my own and my family’s health.  My road to studying naturopathy came about as a result of my own chronic digestive and anxiety issues.  I wasn’t able to find the answers to my health concerns through mainstream medicine despite thorough testing; in fact, most of my results were within the healthy range.  It wasn’t until I sat down with a natural health practitioner who spent some time learning about me and began to join the dots between my otherwise non-related symptoms that I began on the road to re-establishing my health.  Most importantly, I began to FEEL better; my energy improved and so did my vitality for life.

What I learned from this process is that individualised healthcare is so important.  We are all different and one solution does not work for everyone.

My role is to guide you in making positive changes to your life, through diet and lifestyle, that are aimed at balancing your body and creating an environment that supports your own innate ability to heal.  I use herbal and nutritional medicine to correct deficiencies and to improve the way your body functions.  I will design a healthcare plan based on your individual needs and address all aspects of your health including physical, mental and emotional; as well as the underlying cause of your condition.   I understand that all body systems are linked and so nothing is done in isolation – the whole is always greater than the sum of the parts and this is true of us too!

My special interests are women’s health and hormones.  I use nutritional and herbal medicine in conjunction with diet and lifestyle counselling to treat conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS as well as supporting women as they transition through menopause.  I also believe that it is essential to address emotional health and often prescribe Australian Bush Flower Essences as part of my holistic treatment plan.

Other conditions that I treat include:

  • anxiety
  • chronic fatigue
  • adrenal dysfunction
  • thyroid dysfunction
  • Insulin resistance
  • obesity
  • Immune dysfunction including autoimmune conditions, allergies and food sensitivities

I look forward to supporting you in your health journey!
